Questions that deserve an answer #1

that deserve an answer #1

The title says it all.

Over the coming weeks I will be posting this short series of questions, to stimulate your thoughts and exercise your reasoning skills on the topic of who in reality was this man called Jesus the Nazarene ?

Was he just a prophet as the Quran claims? I find it kinda funny that Jesus is the most mentioned person in the Quran but they still did not understand exactly who Jesus is. Was He a lair, a lunatic, or Lord? One thing is for sure, there is no escaping His impact on this world, when even the calendar that we use is separated into BC and AD with Jesus being the pivot point of time, as we mere mortals measure it.

so, come with me on a journey beneath the skin, come with me journey deep within, Christ in you, the hope of Glory. Colossians 1:27

Before I believed I would sometimes wonder, why is this stupid
little fiction (the Bible) so resilient, why are wars fought over it, why do
people die for it, what is it about this book that makes it so ….. Unique?

why has this particular book among st all others played such a great role in history is it because it is His Story?

There are many books some of them classics in their own right, some
are great biography’s or autobiography’s some factual, some
fiction and every other classification you might like to name, but
this one book, which has had crusades fought over it, and wars, and
has been in print the longer than any other and has sold the most ever of all books and it is still selling, Christians call it alive and living. Hebrews 4:12

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any
two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart.

So what is it about this book that has had people die in it’s name,
has made people withdraw from society, had people devote their lives
to it, after all it’s just a book right? Yet no other book has ever come
close to the passion and commitment that this book commands and also this is the most read book EVER.

Authenticity of the bible

The accuracy of today’s Old Testament was confirmed in 1947 when archaeologists found “The Dead Sea Scrolls” along today’s West Bank in Israel. “The Dead Sea Scrolls” contained Old Testament scripture dating 1,000 years older than any manuscripts we had. When comparing the manuscripts at hand with these, from 1,000 years earlier, we find agreement 99.5% of the time. And the .5% differences are minor spelling variances and sentence structure that doesn’t change the meaning of the sentence. So it would seem that we can actually rely on these scriptures and not worry ourselves too much as to it’s authenticity. I believe and have often said when people try to tell me that scripture cannot be relied upon, it’s been changed over the year etc, That if God really is all powerful, omnipresent, supreme and all knowing then surely there is not one word in the bible that he did not ordain, man could not have changed it, or else God is not God, He will and does have His way and no created being is going to spoil His plan. Revelation 22 vs 18-19 gives a stern warning to all that would meddle with the text

I love the Gideon’s charter found in most of their bibles that states

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of
salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its
doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true,
and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It
contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to
cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s
compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here
too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its
end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet.
Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of
wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be
remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards
the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred

Foundation of three faiths

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all recognize Abraham as their first prophet, so that makes this book unique too, it is (at least in the beginning) shared by three very different religions, or at least in the roots of antiquity people believed that they came from the seed of Abraham who was 20 generations after Adam with Noah being about 10 generations before Abraham.

As noted earlier, if God id God, then he WILL have what He wants in His word or else He is no God at all. In the next issue of this mini series I will be turning to the person about whom the whole Bible, old and new testament is about, and looking at some really interesting, weird, and wonderful things that this person did whilst on earth. You have probably read scripture many times but never thought about the things that I will be revealing through this series about the person of Jesus.

Till next time, God bless

  1. I’m not a full time believer of the gospels and I can say that it has not bee easy trying to look for answers as we have peolple who are fanatics with their believes and are always unwilling to have them tampered with. So, whenever I see posts like this, it would really open my eyes to it. Thanks for sharing

  2. I agree that because of the bible, or Christianity anyways, much blood has been shed and many wars fought.  The crusades were an effort to kill off the heathens or unbelievers.  In every way, each side claims to have God’s backing.  Without the Bible, I truly wonder how much more accepting and civilized we would be today.

    1. Thanks Feochadan, I doubt that things would change that much, man without God is an awful concept. Wars are fought over greed mostly and i don’t think that God has any part in greed, it is man that is wicked, man that is corrupt, take the gun lobby argument for instance, a gun NEVER killed anyone, it was a person that killed another person, it’s not the gun’s fault, it is the person. So, not having a bible which teaches good stuff, i believe the world would be even worse that it is now.

  3. I am not very religious myself, but it is very interesting to read and understand your thought process. There is one thing I find very interesting, and that is the religious vs atheist view of the world. When you delve deeper into the atheists point of view, the main point they have is, where is the proof. What do you say to that? What would you say to counter act their point?

    1. Thanks Connor, i guess my short reply to that question would be, show me your proof that God does not exist!

There is more evidence that Jesus existed than there is that Napoleon existed, yet no one disputes Napoleon’s existence, why is that? could it have anything to do with the school system that we were brought up with? could it be the devil’s plan to blind the minds of unbelievers, or a whole mish-mass of anti Christ ideals running wild throughout time?

  4. You know, I have never really questioned the Bible before but this post really brings some questions that one should really ask themselves here. You see, just as u have asked myself about the authenticity of the Bible, you have immediately helped to give an answer to that question which I find very explainable and interesting. Thank you for this good post.

    1. Thank you Henderson, i do hope you keep reading as the short series unfolds to reveal the real person and divinity of Jesus.

  5. Wow, i couldn’t have read anything better today, it’s been my greatest opportunity to come across this website. To be sincere, its truly funny how the most mentioned man in the Quran can not be identified clearly. As a Christian, I’ve found myself in the midst of my Muslim friends, some with good understanding of religion while some at the end of criticism about who Jesus is. I’ll look forward to reading more from you.

    1. Thank you Andrea, i do hope you keep reading as some things may surprise and cause you to ponder about the person of Jesus. Amen.

  6. Well! living a life worthy is living a life of purpose and you have decided to live by that through which you can liberate all of us to seeing the fact that we all must be able to learn immensely well. Thank you so much for sharing here. I will try all my best here. Thank you so much for sharing here. Thank you as you will be making some major facts easily understandable for me. Thank you

    1. Thanks a bunch for you comments Benny, as the weeks go on and as God shows me stuff, i will certainly post it here. Thanks again.

  7. Wow, this is just adorable, there are many unanswered questions out there and one of them is the authenticity of the bible. It is a good thing that you can draw out evidences that show that it really is the truth and everyone should believe that. I must say that this is a good post and I will share it with my Christian community. Thanks

    1. Hi John and thank you for your kind comments, over the coming weeks i hope to present stuff here that most people (certainly, hopefully Christians) have read in the Bible but the full implications were not easily apparent, some (most) of the things Jesus did show that he knew things that would be impossible to know unless He was God.
