“Official” numbers up by almost 4000
The so called “official” number of cases of the coronavirus, in the stricken city of Wuhan China, suddenly rocketed up by nearly 4000 to 28,000 as announced on Wednesday 02/05/2020 but other sources put the number way higher than that, the situation appears to be much worse that the Chinese government are willing to show.
The reported governmental numbers posted in the South China Morning Post were supposedly
- 28,261 confirmed cases
- 565 deaths
- 911 cured patients
Who’s lying here?
There is now increasing concern that the Chinese government is not telling the truth about the actual extent or numbers of the coronavirus epidemic. These concerns were further enforced when on Wednesday the Taiwan News reported that the Tencent social media site (like China’s google) had briefly posted the following statistics on Feb.1:
- 154,023 confirmed cases
- 79,808 suspected cases
- 24,589 deaths
- 269 cured patients
That post was rapidly taken down and the Chinese government’s statistics put up in its place.
Those numbers were shown just for a short time before they reverted back to “official” government numbers. Some news outlets are now speculating that the general consensus among most Chinese internet viewers, is that Tencent has two sets of data, IE, the real news and the “official” news.
There have been some misleading and confusing statements from Chinese officials. For instance, on Jan. 29, Chinese CDC leading epidemiologist, Zeng Guang stated to the government run Global Times newspaper, that public health official decisions are based on science, but a government officials have more to consider, they need to consider the political perspective, the issue of maintaining order and stability. They must consider the economy of the country, and also things like the joy of the Spring Festival (Lunar New Year) and the populations’ satisfaction with government actions.
Zeng Guang said, “what we have to say is often only part of their
decision-making” All these misleading and conflicting reports are very troublesome, and in view of the Chinese economy right now it would probably be disastrous if the true numbers were released and this outbreak declared a pandemic, which could very well collapse the Chinese economy, and consequently world stability.
Face mask stocks are being rapidly depleted in China as millions of people are wanting to purchase and wear this protective barrier. In one queue seen on television it was reported that there were over 10,000 people in line to buy a mask!
The virus respects no borders
The coronavirus outbreak has hopped the Chinese borders and is now
rapidly spreading around the world. NHK is reporting that in the port of Yokohama, Japan. Ten more people have tested positive on the cruise ship Diamond Princess and the ship has since been quarantined. That brings the total number infected among the 3,700 passengers to 20 so far. The ship was quarantined at the end of last month, when a man from Hong Kong tested positive after disembarking the ship. Passengers on board the ship have reported that their food is running out and is being rationed by crew.
Around the world
In America the U.S. CDC Preparedness and Emerging Infections Director, Henry Walke told reporters on Wednesday that 178 persons arriving from Wuhan are now under quarantine at Travis Air Force Base in California. They are classified as being at high risk of exposure, and we are requiring them to be responsible and keep some social distancing.
According to Aljazeera there are reported coronavirus cases in 26 countries around the world at this time, but it looks quite certain that this number will only increase. One of the problems with this Coronavirus outbreak is the incubation time of the virus, at fourteen days it is the longest incubation period ever observed with coronaviruses.
Who can you trust?
Isaiah 26:3 tells us that
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
It really is no surprise that the Chinese government do not want the real numbers or facts to be revealed, after all if this thing gets labeled as a pandemic then they might as well kiss their economy goodbye for many years to come, as no one will be able to trade with them, and without trade, how will they survive? I know that there are many Christians in China and I join along with them in their prayers that this outbreak is stopped in its tracks. Although it is understandable why the Chinese government may lie, and it is also readily apparent that humans without God will inevitably lie, in fact I dare to venture that there is not one government in the whole wide world that has not lied at times, either to its own population or to the rest of the world, and more likely to both.
Man without God is Satan’s own, yes, he owns them, we were all born into sin, whether you are man enough to admit that or not, the fact remains that the ruler (for a time) of this world is Satan, and everybody that is born of a woman (except Jesus) is born into sin and under the influence of Satan their father, the father of lies.
I for one am extremely thankful and happy that God, of His own volition and will, deemed me to be the recipient of His undeserved grace poured out on me the day I first believed in His son Jesus Christ. The scientists in China and around the world are seeking an antidote or cure for this outbreak of Coronavirus, and God willing they may find one, but that will not change a mans heart, even if cured or healed of coronavirus he will still be a slave of his father the devil, there is only ONE cure for our sin and one person who can grant us the forgiveness that we so desperately need and His name is Jesus. John 14 v 6 tells us what Jesus said,
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” What do you think He meant when he said NO ONE?
There is a prayer at the bottom of this page if you want to know a peace that passes all understanding, and a loving savior that will never lie to you, just say that prayer, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Till next time
